This photo is from last night...great campsite & we had a wonderful Motorhome meal of 'what's left in the fridge' surprise. We also cleaned out all the drinks as well & threw the empties out the door...to the amusement of our fellow campers...we've got to keep up the reputation of Aussie drinkers!
We did the research, checked the website & emailed a request for a tour of the Kreighoff factory, but got no reply. No problems, they are open from 8am to 4pm & with suppressed excitement we headed to Kreighoff. There was no-one there...called on the phone only to get the message that they are on annual leave & will be back 23 August...arghhhhh! Then to add insult to injury, climbed back into the Motorhome & opened up my mail to see that I just got a message letting me know of the closure.
Kreighoff, seriously you need to put that sort of information on your website then we could have planned our trip accordingly...all that way from Australia & with high hopes...dashed & a bit devastated! No fair!
So what to do to fill in our time at Ulm...google! Look what we found...mmm guns, boys clothes...
Hunting, girls clothes...
A special room full of guns to look at & touch & dream...
Hey nice lampshade dudes!
And walls of impressive trophies...& this interesting one?
Rahhh...who's the king of the jungle?
But wait, there's more...this fabulous building was the brainstorm of one Mr Muller who wanted to keep shooting even when the outside weather doesn't permit it. Yes...that's indoor shooting...rifles, shotguns, hand guns, everything & it's called MSZU.
Normally you have to book your time, but the staff were very sympathetic to our Kreighoff misadventure & took pity on us...& took some money from us...& let us shoot...yahhhhh!
This complex was not expensive...we got our choice of gun (Kreighoff of course) & only had a short wait before we were breathing in those magic gunpowder fumes. It's been 6 weeks & this was heaven.
Now this is the shotgun area & it's massive. You can have up to 5 shooters at a time & they have ISSF skeet, ISSF trap & sporting/hunting with well over 25 different targets allowing dozens of paired combinations.
Nick went first.
These targets are fast & of course Nick did well.
So I'm up next.
OMG...this is fun...big, big fun!
Keep your head on the stock dopey.
Well that was a whole pile of fun...temperature controlled all year, a really nice cafe, a shop to buy all your goodies & helpful staff...why don't we have one in Australia?
So we don't have any set plans for the next few days & we are heading to Stuttgart for the night. It's sort of in the right direction & we'll pore over our maps tonight while we have some refreshments.
I don't know if everyone is enjoying my blogs...I try & make them interesting & entertaining for you & I know they will be a wonderful collection of memories for me.
Anyway, if you don't enjoy them, go watch a movie or something...or just shut me down...mwaah x
