29/7/13 Paris Day 2 (2)

We had a short walk along the River to our next tour...Paris by water. These are permanent stalls for venders to sell books, posters, art works etc & they line the stone walls on the south side of the River in the French Quarter.

It's 8pm & the sun is high in the sky as we head off for our cruise.

It looks like the sun is setting, but it's only a storm that hit & was soon gone.

A view of the walking path on the riverbank & the large trees that shade it.

Some of these areas are set up for sunbathing or just relaxing...we even found a small man made beach that you could access by a stone staircase.

The old Palace of the King (wait until you see the new one) & the last place that Marie Antoinette lived before they beheaded her for being a naughty Royal Monarch.

There are so many bridges that criss cross the River & keep all areas of Paris very accessible to the population & everyone of them has an interesting history & story to tell.

The detail on some is breathtaking.

This is the smallest house in Paris...it only has the 2 windows, I couldn't see a door & it doesn't look like anyone lives there...maybe because they can't get in?

Te Eiffel from the water...still impressive!

Now this is the the smallest & cutest bridge with a wonderful story & ritual for anyone who cares to partake.

It's called the people's bridge & is only accessible by foot...but look at the railings on both sides?

They are covered everywhere with millions of padlocks! Now the story is that you lock the padlock on the bridge, put 1 key in your pocket & throw the other 1 into the River & good luck & a long & healthy life will come to you. But it's supposed to be for couples to show their undying love...very romantic.

So I have a lot of love & I wanted to wish all those good thoughts & feelings to all my family & friends. So here's the lock I used & I wrote my name on it.

And here it is attached to the railing, right down the bottom on the left hand side of the bridge when you face central Paris. So why am I telling you all this...well if anyone I've wished goodies for wants to visit the lock, I've tried to make it as easy as possible to find.

See...now you know where it is you can find it & take a photo & send it to me...if your lucky!
